Doors open 6:30pm, Meeting starts at 7.00 pm.
This is an opportunity to hear what WAQA has done during the past year, including the highlights of each coordinator’s team. The 2025/2026 Management Committee will also be elected and the General Committee appointed and confirmed.
The Guest Speaker for the evening is Stephen Scourfield the Travel Editor of The West Australian, Sunday Times, Seven West Media’s travel digital publishing, and the author of more than 10 books.
Stephen, who has been sewing since he was a child, has combined his lifetime’s work as a writer, and his love of textiles, by personally hand sewing embroideries and fabrics onto denim jackets. He selects and brings back the pieces — one jacket for each country.
Stephen will talk about the textiles, the stories they open up, and how his Jackets of the World project started and has grown. He will bring along jackets and fabrics, for attendees to see, touch and feel the fabrics of the world — including the Tibetan bangdian, Uzbekistan bread textile and others.
There is no charge for attending but bring your own mug to enjoy tea or coffee with the light supper that will be provided. Contributions to supper are welcome
