Workshops Done for 2026

The final workshop for 2026 was a two day workshop by Helen Sugars Duff with a small group of WAQA members in attendance. They all thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Barking Mad’ workshop that was conducted on a Friday and Sunday with feedback from them included below.

One participant summed up the two days as follows: “To take scraps of fabric go to a class and come out with learning a complex and exciting new technique, is fantastic. To learn the steps from the start with the photo of " grey scale" then all the steps through to the last one where you start to piece it, learn the identity of each shade of the tree trunk and then watch it come alive with the shadowing and shading of the fabrics was mind blowing”.

Other participants added that the two days were “thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end” as they were a ” chance to explore a range of techniques in a genuinely hands-on and practical way” and done in a “relaxed, friendly and sharing atmosphere”.

Helen’s “teaching style was clear, open, and approachable, and her generous sharing of knowledge really enriched the experience” for the participants and it appears the “selected music was fabulous” which added to the “relaxed vibe” of the two days.

Hopefully, there will be many more such workshops next year!
