This is an opportunity for quilters to have some fun with friends and like-minded people, sourcing up to thirteen of the mystery block patterns during the Shopping Trail and using them to make a quilt of your preferred design to display at the Showing of the Quilts where prizes will be awarded by viewer’s choice with a total prize pool to the value of $2,400 across five categories.

THE SHOPPING TRAIL commenced Saturday March 29 with the Opening Event held at Handcrafters House and what a day that was! Michelle and the team made it an event to remember.

You still have until Saturday, May 3rd to visit any of the eleven Sponsor Shops and collect your Mystery block patterns and receive a sticker on your entry form for each pattern collected. This is the time to car pool with friends, venture out on your own or buy online from our participating shops.

Your $10 participation and information booklet includes your entry form for Showing of the Quilts. The booklets can be purchased through our participating shops and for country members you can purchase booklets online or by phone at participating sponsor shops (please refer to each Sponsors page) when placing your first order. Limited to 200 participants.

The THREE BUS TRIPS #1, #2 and #3 were enjoyed by many participants who had a heap of fun, good food, good company and of course plenty of shopping. Not to mention collection of the Progressive Quilt blocks to use in their quilt entries for the Showing of the Quilts in October.

Then come and join us at Bernina WA in Wangara for the closing of the Shopping Trail on Saturday 3 May at 2pm.

After the closing event it’s time to make your blocks, attend demonstrations and technique pop ups, design your quilt or find a suitable pattern that you love. Take advantage of demonstrations and workshops offered by Sponsor shops, Pop ups at WAQA Sewing Days/Nights or book into a WAQA Retreat to complete your quilt.

Participation Raffle

Be in the draw to win a WAQA Annual Membership or a WAQA Workshop Attendance. You will receive one raffle ticket for each different quilt pattern you use. There will be two winners drawn throughout the day at the Showing of the Quilts.

Complete your Mystery Block Quilt in time for the Showing of the Quilts event in October. There are no restrictions on quilt size, and anyone can enter into one of five categories. The category that you qualify for is dependent on the number of different mystery block patterns included in your quilt. View the categories and prizes in the Rules & Conditions.

Donation of Quilts to Worthy Australia

If anyone would like to donate their quilt, we have liaised with Worthy Australia, and they would be honoured to accept any quilts into their program of assisting to rebuild lives after domestic violence here in Western Australia.
