Only Two Workshops Left for 2026….

If you’ve been thinking about joining a WAQA workshop this year, now is the time!

There are only two workshops remaining on the 2026 calendar, and I’d love to see you at one of them…

Secrets of Scrappy Appliqué with Janine Judge

Sunday 16 August 9:30 – 4  $65
Alexander Park Craft House

Discover how to transform your fabric scraps into beautiful mosaic-style appliqué using Shannon Brinkley’s fun and accessible technique. Working with fusible web and a selection of templates, you’ll learn how to build vibrant, textured designs that are quick to create and endlessly adaptable.

This workshop is suitable for all skill levels, whether you’re new to appliqué or looking for a fresh approach to using your fabric stash. You’ll leave with the skills and confidence to continue creating your own scrappy designs, along with a quilt top well underway and ready for quilting.

It’s a relaxed, creative day filled with colour, inspiration and plenty of opportunities to play with fabric.

The final WAQA workshop for the year is ….

Barking Mad with Helen Sugars Duff

2 Day workshop Friday 18 and Sunday 20 September (note these days are not consecutive)

Alexander Park Craft House $130

To book either (or both) workshops email waqaworkshops@gmail.com

This year also marks the end of a chapter for me. At the upcoming AGM I’ll be stepping down as WAQA Workshop Convenor. After several rewarding years in the role, I’m looking forward to spending more time travelling and pursuing my own creative adventures.

It’s been a privilege organising workshops and bringing talented tutors together with our wonderful quilting community. Thank you to everyone who has supported the program by attending workshops, teaching, volunteering or helping behind the scenes. Seeing friendships form, skills grow and creativity flourish has made the role incredibly worthwhile.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming more involved with WAQA, I’d encourage you to consider taking on the Workshop Convenor role. It’s a fantastic way to give back to our quilting community, meet talented teachers and help shape an exciting workshop program for our members. You’ll have plenty of support during the transition, and it’s a role that is both rewarding and inspiring.

I hope you’ll join me on Sunday 16 August for Secrets of Scrappy Appliqué.

I’d love to spend the day stitching, sharing ideas and creating with you.
