WAQA Winners at AQC
In case you haven’t heard, three of our members won prizes in the 2024 Australian Quilt Show Challenge with their quilts on display at the Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC) in Melbourne last week.
Susan Sheath was the star of the WAQA entrants with her quilt ‘Mexican Hats’ taking out four prizes:
Runner Up to Best of Show
First Prize in the Modern Quilt Category
Best Machine Quilting with a domestic machine
Judges Choice Award - from Deborah Segaert
If that was not amazing enough, Susan also took out First Prize in the Recycled and Restyled Category with her entry ‘The Silk Road’
Also, Judith Wilton took out the Best Themed/Pictorial Quilt prize with her quilt ‘Bee Connections’
Finally, Janine Judge came away with two prizes: First Prize in the Embroidered by Hand or Machine for ‘Seeing Red’ and Runner Up in the Art or Pictorial Quilt Category for ‘Window to Paradise’.
