The Winner of the 2021 Challenge Quilts is…

Bravo to all members who completed a quilt for the exhibition at the Indian Ocean Arts Triennial using the inspiration of the oldest building in the City of Wanneroo – Cockman House. A big thank you to Helen O’Hara who organised the collection and display of the quilts.

Voting for Members’ Choice Award took place at February sewing day and evening.

The first place went to the quilt Contemplation by Phil Thomas, depicting a quintessential Australian structure.

Second place, by only two votes, was for Cockman House by Jan Rowe, showing a charming view of Cockman House itself.

Third place went to The Water Tank by Hilary Arber, showing another Australian icon.

Phil was presented with her certificate and small prize by President Lesley Clugston at the March meeting of the Contemporary Quilt Group.

Thank you to all the members who took the time to study the quilts and cast their votes.

Usually the challenge quilts would be retained to display at QuiltWest. Once again COVID has foiled that opportunity and the quilts are being returned to the makers.
