Community Quilts BOM Project

At most of the monthly Tuesday sewing meetings (Sewing Day/Night), a BOM project is presented on behalf of Community Quilts to interested members. A kit of fabric pieces is provided, generally from the presenter’s or Community Quilts stash, along with instructions for creating a specific block.

Members then make up the block and return it next time they attend a Tuesday meeting (or whenever they remember to bring it along). Some blocks are very simple with minimal instructions required, whilst others are little more challenging and have very detailed instructions.

When enough of the blocks are returned, the presenter or a CQ member will piece the blocks together and create a quilt top (or sometimes more than one). The quilt top goes through the same process as any donated quilt top and eventfully a finished quilt is produced that gets added to the stock of quilts to be donated.

A picture of the BOM and corresponding instructions are uploaded to the website as a reference for members making the block and others interested in the BOM design.

What a great way to contribute to the work of Community Quilts!
