Christmas Placemats

Community Quilts continued the tradition this year of donating Christmas Placemats. The placemats were collected from WAQA members over the past few months, with the majority handed in at the final Christmas themed Sewing meeting in November.

A total of 324 placemats were evenly divided between the residents of CraigCare Ascot Waters (an aged care home close to Perth city) and volunteers and clients of the City of Stirling Food Services. The placemats were gratefully received by both organisations and are sure to bring additional joy to the recipients at Christmas.

As in the past, Community Quilts provided to WAQA members, precut wadding and backing, as well as Christmas fabric scraps for the construction of the placemats. A special addition this year was the supply of the Christmas in July block of the month for interested members to use in making their placemats. This was a successful venture with all 35 Christmas tree blocks incorporated into the placemats in a variety of ways. This might be the start of a new tradition!!

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas no matter where or with whom you celebrate the day!!
